Indian Pioneer Papers: Carselowery Cemetery

This Pioneer paper describes the history of the Carselowery cemetery and includes a listing of epitaphs and names of people who were buried here.  I have selected the epitaph of  the first wife of Chief T M Buffington.  His mother is also buried in this cemetery.

**The subject of this sketch was the first wife of Thomas M. Buffington, last living chief of the Cherokee Nation. She was the daughter of Isaac and Mary (Daniel) Woodall, who came to Delaware distriot from Goingsnake district in 1875, and were among the first settlers adjacent to Vinita. She was ‘teaching school when she married, having received her education at the old Baptist Mission, near Westville, in Goingsnake distriot.

They were the parents of seven children,’ all of whom died in infanoy. • •
